For this session, we'll explore how we can use virtual retro synth technology to create fun and engaging sound effects for a virtual retro 2D arcade game.Join Game Audio Institute's (GAI) founder and tech wizard Scott Looney as he delves into the guts of the versatile Roland System 100 modular synth to create a few iconic bleeps, bloops and pew pew sounds in a DAW, and then bounces out, edits, and implements them into the game itself. Along the way he'll be discussing the basics of subtractive analog synthesis, how games work, and a bit on GAI itself. We'll have a few basic test patches to share via Galaxias as a jumping off point for you to design your own cool retro video game sounds, as well as a free GAI game lesson in Unity for you to try your hand at implementation, complete with step by step written and video tutorials.
